OVERVIEW
Soupreme is a new-age pho restaurant anticipating opening in Whittier, CA. The concept stands in the face of strong competition from the OG pho spots to the new restaurants that give a modern twist on pho. 

My role covered:
  • Brand strategy & market analysis
  • Concept development & logo Design
  • Food packaging & merchandise (uniform, stickers)

The goal was to create a standout brand identity that seperates itself from the crowd and stand true to its bold name.



THE CHALLENGE

A cultural gap made it potentially challenging to engage the local community unfamiliar with Korean desserts.
With Oxnard’s majority Hispanic population, our team recognized that signature items like Korean-flavored shaved ice (bingsu 빙수) and fish-shaped cakes (taiyaki 붕어빵) would likely be unfamiliar to much of the local community. Beyond this, the store was designed with future franchising in mind. If GOM couldn’t appeal to audiences like Oxnard’s, its franchise potential would be severely limited.

THE TASK  

Design a brand system focused on being both warm and inviting in order to taps into playful curiousity.


THE SOLUTION

Build the brand around Gomy the Bear, a playful mascot, creating a warm, approachable identity that draws curious customers.
Creating Gomy not only gives the brand a recognizable and memorable face, but also addresses the challenge of potential unfamiliarity by presenting a fun, welcoming atmosphere. The playful character design appeals to a wide range of audiences — from families with sweet-toothed children to Gen Z customers who love collectibles, K-pop-inspired merchandise, and character-driven experiences. By making GOMY the centerpiece of the brand, every touchpoint, from packaging to in-store displays, communicates approachability while reinforcing a cohesive and engaging brand identity.
